Sharing files between a Sony Clié and a Windows Mobile device
Philippe and I were car-pooling yesterday and we wanted to share a music file that was sitting on his Memory Stick. Sadly, even if both devices have WiFi capabilities, we didn’t had the software required to complete the transfer. Those little devices really should bundle a Samba client & server that you can turn on to swap files back and forth through an ad-hoc WiFi network. Bluetooth is so crippled on my PDA-phone that, even if the CliĆ© would have a Bluetooth antenna, we wouldn’t be able to send it that way either. This was a very disappointing geek moment.
Yes, I know, there are commercial networking tools for both Palm OS and Windows Mobile that let you connect your PDA to a Samba client and server, but I don’t feel like paying 30$ for somethig I would use once every two months.
If you know of any free Samba client/server for Palm OS and Windows Mobile, send me an email, please.
